produced by Sekiguchi and released in 1974
the name monchhichi comes from the french words "mon" and "petit" together meaning my cute little thing. it takes the full word mon モン and puts it together with the ending of the japanese way of writing petit プチ (puchi). モンチッチ.
chichi is also similar to the japanese onomatopoeia of a baby using a pacifier
monchhichi dolls come in various sizes: Super Small (11cm), Small (19cm), Medium (25cm), Large (43cm), Extra Large (50cm), and 2Large (70cm). there are also some that do not fit into the standard sizing but their sizes generally range between a SS and a S. they also have various fur colors ranging from natural fur colors like browns, tans, and blondes to rainbow colors! with some even having black, white, grey, or even multi colored fur!
monchhichi-kun and monchhichi-chan (or monchhichi boy and monchhichi girl) were both born on January 26th. they look almost exactly the same with freckles, rosy cheeks, brown eyes(with the exception of originals which have blue eyes), and in both of their hands a pacifier. but one major difference is the the hair. monchhichi-chan usually has an updo with a bow and monchhichi-kun doesnt.
